Stegosaurus is a herbivorous dinosaur from the Late Jurassic period, between 156 and 140 million years BC. Its dimensions are 7 to 9 m long and 4 to 4.5 m tall. It weighs about 2-3 tons. Stegosaurus has two rows of bony plates on the back and tail spikes, reaching 60 cm in length. Plates on its back serve to regulate body temperature and tail spikes are the only defense and protection against predators.
